I have a thread that about once a week I post a new tip for on the Nikon D7000. Presently I am at tip #55 and hope you come by to see if there is any information that you might find useful. I have a lot of people that come by regularly to check out what new tips have been added and so far it has been viewed well over 25,000 times from people interested in learning about their camera. Some tips can apply to other models and even sometimes to other brands so come by and check it out. I have also recently added a few more photos that are in my gallery here on the Nikonites site so check them out also if you have some spare time, Jeff

Check it out here

Grandpaw - Just checked out your threads for the D7000. I have a D80, D90 and D5100, but a lot of these posts are helpful for those cameras also. Good job! Now I just have to figure out how to remember some of the information you give when I am out in the field. That's the hard part! Ha.

My husband and I are going to the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert later this month. If you have any hints or info that might be particularly useful to me, please let me know. I may never make it there again and so don't want to blow this photo-op because I haven't prepared correctly. I'm seriously considering the battery pack, although I always carry a spare charged battery, so I don't know which is more helpful to me. Like I said, if you have any thoughts that might be helpful, please share!

Thanks for the comment on my Little Rock skyline photo. I took that in the summer of 2011 and then in 2012, the Arkansas Press Association held a contest for the cover of their directory which goes out to every newspaper in the state. I entered with that one and a few more, and two of them placed in the top 7 and that one won first place.

Anyway - very interesting posts. How about buying a D5100 and putting up a thread for it?

Keep up the good work.

I appreciate all the kind comments. The whole reason for my thread is to share information that I have learned and hopefully help other people to get more acquainted with their camera so they will be able to get better pictures and have more fun, Jeff

Grandpaw, I actually love your thread. I have checked it out a few times. It has come in handy and taught me a few things that were necessary. I sit down with my camera and try out the tips.

I have the Nikon grip for my camera and like it very much, however it does add a lot of weight to have to carry around with you and in you case would probably recommend not getting one due to the extra weight you will be carrying. Two things that I would consider getting if you do not have them are a circular polarizing filter and a shoulder strap to replace the camera strap that came with your camera. Using a shoulder strap will eliminate a lot of neck pain that is caused by the camera hanging on your neck. I use a Carry Speed Strap but there are many brands out there such as Black Rapid. As far as the filter goes I believe that both your Nikon 55-200 and the Nikon 35mm both have a filter size of 52mm so you could use this filter on either lens. The 18-105mm has a filter size of 67mm and would require an additional filter for it. You might think about getting a 52mm filter because it will cover most of what you will be needing. Another thing that I would recommend is to have plenty of memory so you do not run out of space at a critical time. Remember that if you do see that your memory is getting full and you do not have extra cards that you can gain space by knocking down the size of your files and gaining room by going to a lower quality picture. Having plenty of memory is a much better option but a little lower quality image is still much better than missing the shot all together. Also remember to take your battery charger and don't leave it plugged at the hotel and forget it when you leave. If you get a polarizing filter be sure and play with it BEFORE you leave on vacation so you know how to use it and not waste valuable vacation time or mess of your pictures, Jeff

Thank to everyone for reading my tips thread and recommending it to others. My Nikon D7000 tips thread is now up to 69 tips with almost 40,000 views so if you haven't stopped by to check it out or haven't checked lately you might want to take a look. If you have any suggestions about new tips to cover, please send me a PM or email me at [email protected] and I will see about researching your suggestion and adding it to the list. The more information I can add the more it has a chance to help others. Many of the tips will work on other makes and models of cameras so even if you do not have the D7000 you might just find some helpful information that you can also use. Jeff

Well it has been about 8 weeks since I gave you an invite to visit my "Nikon D7000 Tips" thread and I have added 12 more tips and it has been viewed almost an additional 11.000 times in this past 8 weeks for a total of 50,634 views. I mentioned this on my 365 thread but thought I would also post here for those who don't read my 365 thread. The reason for my Tips is to give readers some new ideas to try with their camera in hopefully a simple and easy to understand format. Many of the tips will work on other Nikon models and even some other brands. I hope if you take the time to check it out that many of the tips will be helpful. If you have any suggestions on tips please get in touch with me and I will research it and write it up so everyone can benefit from the information. My tips thread can be accessed by the link at the bottom of every one of my posts.

Hi Jeff, nice work with these tips. I only wish that the tip list at the beginning could be links. If it could be like an linked index, it would save some scrolling time for someone just looking for a quick tip on the run. I don't know much about websites so I wonder if this would be easy to do.

Good tips!

This has been suggested before but as I add tips sometimes what page each tip shows up on changes. By the way Marcel a lot of the tips work with the D800.

The last time I mentioned my "Nikon D7000 Tips" Thread was in October of last year, so I thought do to the fact a lot of people have the D7000 I thought I would renew my invite to check it out. A lot of the tips will work on other makes and models also so if you have some time and are looking for something to do go by and check it out at the link below in my signature. I have just recently added tip #100 and it has been viewed well over 80,000 times. Out of that many items there is probably some information that you can benefit from reading. I do not profit in any way from the thread it is there only as a means of information to help others. I hope you find it useful.
