Well tonight I officially joined the D7000 club. Picked up a pre-enjoyed model with the battery grip, Tamron 17-50mm 2.8f lens, and a guide for a decent price. When asked why he was selling it, the wife had weighed in, no new camera until he sells some stuff. Upon payment, he used what I gave him and went straight across the street and bought a D610 lol.

Thats a nice setup. Straight in with a fast lens.
One of my fave aspects about the D7000 is the built in AF allowing you to buy the Nikon D range lenses which are cheaper than the G series while offering excellent quality.

It's also a camera body I'll probably never sell, even if I take the leap into the FX world, as the D7000 is a perfect DX partner to full frames, to offer that little extra reach.

Here is a question regarding firmware. It has A 1.02 B 1.03 L 1.002. I see there is a firmware update. Anyone know what all it fixed, or how important it is?

IIRC the upgrade from your firmware version to the latest is to support new lenses that came out since your version of firmware. Not sure there is anything significant as far as changing the way your D7000 body works.

I went ahead and did the firmware update, went pretty easy. Right now I'm playing with it before and after work, trying to adapt to its workings vs the D3100 I've been used to using since 2011. Weather has been icky lately, so I haven't really gotten to get any good shots. Hopefully this weekend that will change. I am doing something I rarely did with the D3100, I'm starting to use the manual mode mostly. Before, I normally used aperture or shutter priority.

Ok, I snapped a few photos Monday am early, right after the snow storm just swept thru the mountains. All shot free hand with the D7000, tamron 17-50mm lens. I attempted to upload them to the site, but the files are too large. I haven't done any PP to the photos yet.
