Hi all, new to this! When I look through my viewfinder it is blurry to me. However not to most others. It takes sharp images but I can't tell if it is focused or not......I have turnned the diopter. .it also doesn't seen to adjust though. I have looked through with new contacts, glasses and none at all. It is just boggling because other can see just fine. So is it me!? HELP I have a wedding in 6 days!

On my D800E I pull the diopter out a little to adjust the view of my viewfinder. Have you checked to see if that might be the same on your Nikon?

Brandy... have someone else adjust the diopter...the test is to see whether they can see a change in focus. If they can, then you can assume the diopter is actually functioning correctly. If it is, there is a range of adjustment that is outside the range that YOUR eye sees... Nikon sells several diopters for your camera that when added to your camera, extend the range of adjustment for YOUR prescription... You might need to visit a Nikon dealer to test which one you need... They're typically only $10+ B&H Photo has several on their web site

Do I correctly understand you to be saying that when other people look through your viewfinder, it looks fine, and that it is only you to whom it looks blurry? If so, then I have to think the problem is with your eyes, and not with your camera; and that you need to be seeking advice, not from photographers, but from an optometrist.

Diopter adjustment broken ? Maybe the other people who have looked through your VF had vision that matched the diopter setting. I'm assuming your vision is fine otherwise?

What is the power of you eye? The diopter adjustment is only +-1, more than that you need to change the eyepiece. I have -4 and -4.5, and with my specs the focus is off slightly. With proper glasses or contacts which are adjusted to closest distance you will not have any problems.

Here is an explanation
