Has anyone here own the D610 and the D700

..or have owned both at different times?
I have been comparing these two cams online and read a million reviews on both until the cows came home.

I still can't seem to make up my mind. Although the 610 is much newer tech and of course twice the resolution, I just keep reading reviews about the D700 colors. It gets high praises on many websites and by many reviewers.

If anyone here has owned both cameras, please tell me the difference in the color rendering between these two cams, and is it really THAT different.

Also the ISO performance seems to be pretty equal up to 3200 ISO on both cams, (according to Photographylife)but the D610 has a better dynamic range.
Feel wise I hear the 700 is close to the D300, which I love.

Also love the button layout of the D300 which is basically the same on the D700.

If I do get either one of these cams I would still keep my 7100 as well. I would mostly be doing landscapes with the FF and would also need the low light capability for indoor shots, if I ever lose my mind and do another wedding.;)

I would appreciate feedback on just these two cams. Not interested in a 750 or a 8XX or a D4s. Just these two right here.
Thank you.

DxOMark Derived Sensor Characteristics

If you select the 610/14 and 700/14 there, you see some of the sensor/conversion differences. That's quite a bit.

The native ISO of the D700 is 200 so if you compare both cams at 200, the differences are not dramatic except for DR. If you shoot the D610 at 100 however, the D700 is no match.

Hey BT was going to send you a PM but tight for time so I will come out of lurking this one time here to try and help you out.

You are overthinking this my friend.

My son has a D610 it is a fantastic camera, do not let any of our "experts" tell you otherwise. He shoots mostly desert landscapes and the results are brilliant using 50 1.8 /24-85 VR and 70-300VR.

I think you know how I feel about my D300/D700 combo. I am not interested in 36mp cam (D800) and have no interest in video. 12MP is perfect for me.....but I would happily own and use a D7100/D610 combo. I am used to the pro layout, could I be happy with the prosumer layout of the D610/D7100? Sure, why not? Further you are already familiar with both advantage you!

Pick the layout you like better (D300/D700 or D7100/D610) and get your additional camera. You will take brilliant shots which ever way you go.....and either way you will have a sweet pair - one fabulous crop camera and one fabulous full frame camera. If I was to advise you I would say get rid of the D300 and combo the D7100 with a brandy new D610 with warranty....or stretch the budget a smidge for a D750.

Pick your pair and take pics!
