D600 repair question

Hi all!

I sent my D600 in for repair, and the service ticket says:

Problem: SENSOR DUST No Charge/Good Will Repair

That's it. It's out for delivery today, but is that what Nikon writes when they replace the shutter? Will a more thorough explanation be in the box? To me, it sounds like they might not have done anything because they deemed it "Good". I'll know the answer when I get it back, of course, but wondering what others have experienced.

I came here for abuse, not an argument! :)

Nope, I didn't wade through them all. Is there one that addresses my inquiry?

If you hadn't gotten lazy and managed to get through about 231 of them you would have had your answer. ;)

It's the defacto work order language for this repair. About 20 posts later you see exactly what they did, or at least what they say they did - there's 6 parts besides the shutter that get replaced, but they don't say what they are.

good will huh..thats what they call being cornered and threatened with a class action lawsuit. and china as well banned that D600. nice try nikon. next time do the right thing. you wasted so much money through this and got bad publicity. people feel betrayed and let down. instead you could have come out even stronger from this.

Why don't people punctuate properly any more??????
Big difference between No Charge/Good, will Repair
and No charge/Goodwill repair

Man, someone still has bees in their bonnet. "Good will repair" is a longstanding term in just about every service sector that simply qualifies a repair outside of any warranty that costs the company in parts and time but not the customer. It's not like Nikon pulled the term out of thin air. I suspect it's used to codify General Ledger entries so that the costs can be written off in a particular way. The fact that people who are getting their cameras fixed see it on their forms and complain about it on the internet is just an unfortunate side effect - but hell, what don't people complain about on the internet?

Just to "wrap up" this thread in case anyone else stumbles, like a punch-drunk prizefighter, into it. My D600 did indeed have the full Monty performed on it. Seems to be in great shape as expected.

Now if I could just convince the wife that I'm a hippie... ;)
