Mirror up and bracketing burst

Hi,

I am hesitating between buying a D610 or D800. After reading many articles and posts I have probably clarified all the pros and cons of these cameras. One of the open issues is the combined use of mirror up and bracketing burst. It is possible to set D610 to execute bracketing burst in mirror up position? I mean with a single touch, so that the mirror flips up and remains in that position until the bracketing burst is finished. The next question is how to trigger such a sequence with a remote control device, and with which one?

I might have missed something but on my current D700 I have been able to do this only by manually triggering each and every step on my MC-36. This means 1: mirror up, 2: first shot, 3: mirror up, 4: second shot, 5: mirror up, 6: third shot, and so on.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Hey,

I got the D610 and came here to get an answer how to do that :p

I didn't figure out how to do that yet. Last trip I used my wireless IR release. For a BKT sequence of 3 shots I had to press the button 6 times (mirror up, shot, mirror up, - shot, mirror up, + shot). When you forget to cancel AF it will focus every time :/

Anyone got an answer to if this is possible?
Google won't help me

Hey,

finally found the combination I was looking for (except one minor thing).

So I set the camera on selftimer (not S for single or CH for continous.. - the wheel on top :) ) and set the time in the menu on 2sec delay.
In the menu too I set the mirror lockup delay to 2 sec.
Set BKT to 3 pictures and EV as desired (2 stops)

Whats happening when pressing the release?
- 2 sec then mirror flips up
- another 2 sec shot one is being taken
- mirror flips up 2 sec and shot 2
- mirror flips up 2 sec and shot 3

So I only press once wait 8 sec + shutter speed times and got my three exposures.

I dunno why the mirror always goes down again but that is not a big deal to me. When shooting bracketed exposures nothing should be moving anyway.

Hopefully that'll help you out :)

PS: I got the D610 a month ago and it is amazing ! Love it.
