I have recently continuously gotten the 'press shutter release button again' on my nikon d5200. I have done so many times but the problem still persists with the message recurring an no images taken. Any DIY ideas on here on how i can fix this? Much appreciated.

Re: nikon d5200

Mike,i cannot take any pictures because each time i try to, the camera gives me the 'Error, press shutter release button again'. And when i do,and try to take a picture, the same message pops back up again.

You can put the error message into Google and you'll find the typical solution which requires a certain degree of camera disassembly. I think it you need to remove six or seven screws and then lubricate a little gear using something like WD-40. The fix appears to work for many though I have not tried it myself.

Oh heck I'll give you a link: How to fix 'Press Shutter Release Button Again' error on a Nikon DSLR.

Re: nikon d5200

Already seen that link before, but the d5200 is different from the D40 and complicated in the disassembly pattern because of the screw arrangement and more specifically the little gear allocation on the D40. Searched all through google but no hits thats why i came to ask through this forum. But guess will just have to hand it over to the nikon guys to sort it out. Thanks for the help though.

Welcome to the website,

have you tried anything to fix it?

I did have this problem once on my D3200, and to cut a long story short, it was down to the memory card.
formatted it (in the camera) and worked fine ever since.

Not saying this will fix yours, but worth a try.
