ERR when using Quiet mode

When I use the Quiet mode I get an error message "ERR Press shutter release again"

The manual says to see a Nikon repair representative. Is there a trick to using that mode? I am in the "M" mode.

When I got home, I tried the kit 18-55 lens, and the quiet mode works perfectly, so it is lens specific. I never thought that would matter.

It's not a big deal, but as I accumulate lenses, I will make a note of which ones work on that mode and which ones don't.

I use Quiet mode most all the time, switch exposure modes regularly and I've never noticed "Q" mode being "lens specific"; I think you simply have a bum lens if it won't function correctly in Quiet mode.

I would rather it be the lens than the camera body.
I haven't seen that lens listed in other member's signature lines Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM, so I assume it is fairly uncommon. It would be nice to know if others see the issue.

I have a couple Sigma lenses including the 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM but I've never had the issue you describe. It's possible it's a firmware issue and that updating the firmware would resolve the issue. You might try sending Sigma customer service an email, or calling them, to find out if this is a known issue.
