    Selective Color

Well, i am continuing to explore my camera. Last night, i experimented with the Selective Color feature of the camera. One thing to know: this feature can only be used in live view. Anyhow, it was fun and it was nice to see certain colors stand out from a black and white surrounding. I did one where i had the camera focus on my daughters silver heart-shaped coin bank. I just love silver on a black and white background. It was also nice to see the reds.

meh, selective color is gimmicky and about as much of a selling feature as megapixels. lol. Its an old fad that we are all guilty of getting caught up in at one point. Have fun with it, but don't over do it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, i will certainly have fun with it. I guess the feature can make photos a bit "artsy". Though, my mission is to learn every bell and whistle on my camera and have fun while doing it. So, i guess you don't want to see hundreds of selective color pictures from me? lol Enjoy shooting

I happen to be a fan of some selective color photos I've seen. Apparently this is the mark of a new shooter. LOL! I think I'll stay 'new'. I love 'artsy' stuff we can do with digital cameras and software. My old eyes love looking at images, from sepia photographs to paintings and that colorful line in between.

I'm not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Thats great! You should learn every single feature of your camera! Usually, people do selective color to make an otherwise lackluster photo, become more interesting. Its usually a quick fix for an image that can't stand on it's own. Doing it for fun, and doing it professionally are also 2 different things. You are doing it for fun, but nothing irritates me more than seeing a professional fauxtographer using it.

hence why i said you do it for fun. I was just making a point that after a certain level, things like selective color should not be considered. You will see what i mean as you grow.

I just can't get this feature to work for me and I really want to. i have watched dozens of tutorials and have followed them step by step and have absolutely no idea what i am doing wrong. Seriously, I have followed the instrux to the letter and yet nada...has anyone else had any trouble?
