Nikon d5100 battery grip - not available

It is so sad to have this Nikon D5100 because Nikon did not make battery grip for it. You can only depend on the third party battery grip which is not good, you need to connect a wire before the shutter will function. I am happy with the images it produced but with the battery grip i am very sad. Nikon D5100 does not satisfy my needs. For those who wanted to buy DSLR camera, think before you buy.......... If Nikon will release battery grip for D5100 many users will be happy......

Before buying anything, check out any accessories that may or may not be available for it. And that's what a grip is.......an accessory, not a necessity.

I really need to understand this. The camera can only consume one battery at a time, and it takes just a second to replace one. I've always got a camera bag with spares...plus I have pockets if I haven't got a bag.
So for me, I don't see it as a need. I can't take thousands of photos at one session ...I'm not a pro!

Finally, there ARE after market makers of battery grips specifically made for the D5100.

When you're doing video an extra battery in the battery grip will allow you to run longer.

I'm also a little disappointed Nikon doesn't offer a battery grip. Nikon has a brand name battery grip for the D7000.

I can understand that a cable needing to be attached in order to make the 3rd party grip work might be depressing, but look at the bigger picture (no pun intended :p), at least you can buy it as opposed to not having anything at all :)

That's true. I just like to stay with brand specific products. I haven't used my battery grip yet and may never. Since it came with the D5100, I think I'll keep it.

There are some non-brand specific items I do have to use though... filters, SD cards, etc :D

Sure, I understand. I am only a bit disappointed that Nikon has their name on a battery grip for the D7000 and not the D5100. I have to find something to complain about.
