What is the best lens to get the smaller aperture? To get shots of full figures of people but blurred background?

I too would suggest a good 70-200mm f/2.8; more specifically the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD.

If you're looking for a prime, the Nikon 85mm f/1.8G would be a good choice.

Any prime at F1.8, F1.4 or F1.2. The F1.8 primes are the least expensive. F1.4 more so. F1.2 is currently manufactured as MF 50mm.

As far as the best current lens for portraits it is the 85mm F1.4G, though it costs a bomb.

If I were doing portraiture (which I don't do very often) I'd probably want to give a shout out to the 135mm f/2 DC. They're a bit pricey, but not a budget breaker. They offer selectable bokeh "defocus control." They can be found for $700 (used) to about $1300 (new.)

Try googling that lens (Nikon AF DC-NIKKOR 135mm f/2 D) and you'll find hundreds of people praising it for that exact usage.
