A friend's D5100 started acting up. While taking photos it froze. Wouldn't complete the photo. She turned it off it took a minute to shut down. Then when she tried to use it again, it worked then froze again. It told her the SD card was corrupted so she put in another. Told her that it was corrupted as well. Odds that all SD cards corrupted at the same time- slim. Likely the camera but what? Do a factory reset and try again?? Any other ideas??

Remove the battery and leave it out for at least an hour. Then put the battery back in and do a factory reset. Format the SD card in the camera and try again to see if it works.
