Using a remote speedlight trigger with my D5100

Hi Guys

I have a D5100 and a SB900 and want to use my speedlight off camera. I decided to go the route of a remote trigger but for the life of me I cant get it to work. Is there some setup on the camera/speedlight that I need to do to get it to work? The make of the trigger is Wansen. I hope it isnt a load of trash!

Please help!

meh. never heard of the company. picture of the slaves? link?

did you set the flash to manual mode?
did you set the dipswitches so that they recognize each other. Usually you press the button to see if it will trigger the flash. If the flash is set on TTL mode, it will not recognize the signal and thus not fire.
