Rapid Fire Shots in Manual Mode - Is it possible?

When shooting on the Sports mode with my camera, I can just hold down the Shutter Release button and it will continue to take pictures in succession. I've recently been trying to take my action shots in the Manual mode to control the lighting better, but I find that I can not hold the Shutter Release button down and have it keep taking photos. I have to keep pressing it as fast as I can. Is there a setting that will allow the rapid fire shooting while in Manual mode?

Sure. Not sure what body you have but mostly all cameras have a continuous shooting mode. My D90 has a button next to the shutter release that allows me to change the shooting mode. The D3s has a rotating dial that dictates what mode I'm in. Your camera is probably pretty similar as far as having something external that allows you to change settings rather than digging into the menu options.

Welcome, continues shooting will be limited by your cameras buffer size,ie if its a D7xxxx series and you shoot raw it will not run for long.

My D7000 has a mode wheel, and under that is another wheel that I press a button and can turn it... It has CL and CH for slower and rapid consecutive shots.

As we are in the D5100 forum I guess you are asking about that body. Yes you can use continuous shutter in manual. If I remember correctly press the i info button to get in to menu and scroll down to release mode and select continuous. I used a class 10 SD card any got around 15/20 RAW shots before the buffer filled up. Do I not miss menus!
