"i" Button Not Responding on D5100

Please help.

The "i" Button on my D5100 has stopped responding meaning I can no longer activate the cursor in the information screen.

I can think of no reason why this would happen. The Camera was not dropped or damaged in any way.

I have updated firmware.

Any suggestions before I send for repair ?

Welcome to Nikonites.....have you tried to pull the battery and put it back in?? Just figuring a reset might work. Before I send it in, I would try a real reset to see if that works. Good luck!

I have tried removing the battery.I have just looked up how to "hard reset" and I think I need that button to work in order to perform it Will try it later.

There are several ways to reset your camera....try to find a way without using that button.

Does anyone know any other ways of resetting? How long will it take for the internal battery to run out? Thanks J

it can take several weeks for the internal battery to run completely out. The two button reset is one way to partially reset the camera....for the other way (look in the menus as I don't have the 5100 any longer....but should be in the menu.....
