needed wireless adapter

Just stopped in at best buy and was looking at the wu-1a wireless adapter only to find out it will not work with the d5100 what will work

There are wireless memory cards, said to work in any camera. I have no experience with them, and frankly, I'd instead put the money into a good USB 3 card reader.

I think the D5100 pre-dated wireless uploading. There's a Nikon GPS accessory that's available for it (GP-1), but for wireless you may have to go Wayne's route.

The eye-fi memory cards work. I sometimes use one to tether to my iPad with no wifi network required: it creates it's own network. You can use a existing network to upload photos to the cloud. There is a little lag time, but I guess there would be some lag with the Nikon wireless adapter too - if there was one.
