Watermarks

There is no one, single 'best way'. There may be a way that works best for you.

It depends on what, precisely, you want to do. Do you simply want text that reads "© 2014 Joe Sixpack"? Next, do you want plain text, one color, in the same place and the same size on every image? If so, there's a million ways to do so.

Or, do you want different colors, maybe the option of adjusting the opacity, and maybe even graphics?

He didn't say "where" he wanted it, did he? :D

I was assuming, since the OP used the term Watermark, that it would be visible in the image.

It's the single, simplest, legal thing he can do. Without playing 20 questions and trying to determine what exactly he was trying to accomplish, I went with simple.

I offered 1 solution.
You offered a solution.

I'm sorry if my solution somehow detracted from yours.

I'm done...

Do a Google on TSR Watermark. You can download it for free, or you can pay for it...your choice. And it's really slick...works like a charm. Been using it for the past 3 or 4 years now.

Since I use Photoshop CC, I always make my watermarks on each photo just before I save them. This way, I can select the color, vary the opacity and even add layer style to them (drop shadow, bevel&emboss). This way I can kind of blend the watermark with the picture so it doesn't distract from the image itself.
