[Q] Nikonhacker's firmware - risky or safe ?

This has happened a lot with Canon PS and no problems as far as i know, Canon have in the past released info to make hacking easier and safer

I'm sure there's many ways to brick a camera. Installing a hack firmware is but one.
Updated, hacked. Thanks ! Everything went fine. I guess now I can stay with this firmware for very long time for I don't see why I would want to switch, so less danger :)

I wonder what the effect is on the factory warranty when Nikon finds the firmware has been hacked? Nikon does check, as they updated my D5100 firmware when it was in for service. I like my camera the way it is, having no need for the extra things that hacked firmware provides.
