I was just wandering i got my first dslr in the mail yesterday and was wandering how i should store it. Should I keep the lens on? Should I keep it in a box with a reusable dryer in it? I live in KY. By storing it Im talking maybe at up to 1 month at times as I bought the camera mainly to get better picture at family events but when I have time i want to try some wildlife and landscapes.

I keep my body with lens attached in a camera bag personally
I assume you are referring to those little dryer sheets? I don't use them personally, my camera is never closed up in the bag for more than a few days anyway.

Do you have a bag yet? Check out the threads in this sub-forum - great tips for all price ranges.

I keep mine in its bag with the top open but a clean tea towel loosely laid over to keep the dust out but let air circulate

I am considering getting one of these but then again I do live in a very humid environment for half the year
. But at the present mine is kept in the camera bag or next to my iMac. I just bit the bullet and bought the below cabinet.

I keep both my bodies with lenses attached ready to go on top of my computer workstation. No worries about gathering dust as they are grabbed much to often...

congrats on your new camera. I keep my gear in 2 bags. 1 medium shoulder bag for my 5 flashes/slaves/umbrella mounts and batteries. and my lowepro photo trekker AW holds everything else. I live in a blistering hot and humid country but I havent noticed any issues. I do wipe down all my gear every 2-3 weddings from sweat and oil and clean the contacts with caig deoxit gold as well.

For a month storage, I would remove the battery as suggested by the user's guide. And keep the camera in a cool dry place in a camera bag etc.

I keep accessories etc stored in the bag but my camera is left near my computer, I couldnt be doing with taking it out and putting it away all the time.

clean the contacts with Caig Deoxit Gold as well.
That is a good referral! I had never heard of this product before. Quite valuable with all of these contacts on these camera/lenses!
