But of course I know - Jeddah belongs to those places (toponyms) that we, in Europe and elsewhere in the "West" know, mainly thanks to literature, history books, geography books, myths, legends etc. Names of the places like "Alexandria", "Cairo", "Hong Kong", "Red Sea", "Aden", "Cape Horn", "Katmandu" etc., sounded like a magic to me, when I was a child, age of 12-13 and just started to read popular writers like Jack London, Herman Melville, Somerset Maugham and some others who traveled a lot around the globe, and wrote a lot of (or were inspired by) those travels...
