Nikon D5100 mirror fell out of it body.

My camera got the shutter release error, for the second time in less than a year, so before I sent it back to Nikon, I took the lens off to see if it was the same issue I had just only last May. But when I took the lens off, out comes the mirror. What do I do? I don't wanna void the warranty but I also don't wanna lose my camera for another 2-3 weeks because I need it for school. Any suggestions?

Send it back to Nikon for service especially if it is still under warranty. Do not try to fix it yourself. You may just cause more damage.

Since the camera is under warranty, I'd suggest calling Nikon and sending it in for service. You mentioned being a student and not wanting to be without it so does your school or a friend have a camera you can borrow in the interum? Or possibly you will have to rent one until yours is fixed. :( If it were me, I'd want it repaired by Nikon directly. It might be a hiccup for you right now, but down the road, most likely you'd be glad you had Nikon fix it.

If it's under warranty take/send it back....What do you mean void the warranty, The only way that can happen is if you have took a screwdriver to it...

How was this resolved. Did they repair it.. Was it costly? Anyone else have this problem. It just happened to me.. Sending it in and I'm having an anxiety attack about my baby going to the shop. Still under warranty.. But who knows they may or may not fix it under warranty.. I'm a jinx right now. My elliptical just bit it. My roof blew off. Now this.. I swear Someone's hex ing me..

I have seen a few mentions of it,i repeat a few when you look at the start date on this thread and realize we haven't been inundated with reports hardly a real problem, more likley a batch problem.
