my nikon d3200 won't shoot. every time i attempt to take the picture it says nikon d3200 error press shutter release button. I've seen forums that discuss applying lube to the wheel gear, but it appears to be very complicated disassembling the d3200 body. any suggestions or expertise with this issue???

If you have a D3200 with this error your situation is probably different. Your camera, most likely, has a stuck mirror.

What you can try before you start removing screws and lubing sprockets: Put the camera in Continuous shooting mode. Press and hold down the shutter button for four or five seconds and see if that frees up the mirror. It's a long shot but it's worth trying before ramping it up to the next level.

thanks for the reply, I'm not sure what mode fixed the problem, but i just kept rotating the shooting mode dial and pressing the shutter button and now it works fine. thanks again

Well that'll work, as it apparently did... The idea is to sort hammer the shutter mechanism in an effort to get the mirror moving again.

Once the mirror pops free it's usually good to go for a while.
