Other than acting up when you connect to the PC, is the camera acting normally? Have you rebooted the computer? If not, do so and try connecting again. If that doesn't work try connecting to the camera to a different computer, or using a different USB port on the current computer. If still no joy, try reading the SD card via a card reader instead of the camera/USB cable, it could be a bad card.

Thx..I've rebooted and used a different port, still no luck....The PC can read the card though. I'll try on another PC.

I'm trying to avoid telling you the problem lies with your camera but you're not making it easy. If you can use a card reader you're in luck though, media readers be cheap. The fact your PC is picking up on the camera being connected, but not recognizing it, makes me wonder if it's a (corrupted) driver. I suppose that's possible... Maybe do some Google'ing and see if you can find/install a driver for your camera. Maybe that will iron out the issue. Not sure what else to suggest... Good luck!

Well now that's what I call a quick fix!

I'd have demanded a free upgrade to compensate me for my time and trouble... To, say, a D600!

    But that's me.
