I have the AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm 1:4.5-5.6G ED VR and the AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR lens and was wondering what other lenses would complete a good all around package. Also, I would like to find a good lens mounted tripod mount and wondering which make or model will fit.

When I got my D5100 and the 18-55 Kit I bought the 55-300 too. Than I bought my first prime, the 50mm 1.8. That was the time I started loving my cam. Now I own a 35mm 1.8 too. great lens.

After photographing fort a while I got a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle.

I own other lenses too, but when I go on a field trip in my back is the 55-300, the 35mm and the Sigma 10-20.

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad to have these two lenses and as far as lenses go, these were pretty cheap, price wise. Looking at other lenses, I am blown away by the prices. I originally thought about a wide angle lens and a macro lens. There are so many to choose from, hence the post.

I used to have the kit lens 18-55mm Nikkor along with my d 3100. Then I added 70-300mm AF-S Nikkor and 35 mm f1.8 Nikkor to my bag. Made a small hole in my pocket, but I found worth it.

I would suggest that you sell off the D3100 and the 18-55 lens and get the D3300 with the latest 18-55. The difference in both the body and the lens are worth it
- 24MP vs 14MP sensor
- ISO 12800 vs 3200
- 5 fps vs 3 fps
- Faster Video
- Faster processor
The newer 18-55 is also marginally sharper and smaller

Ultimately you will be investing a lot in lenses, so for a couple of hundred dollars get a better body.

Same here guys. Right now I'm also compromising due to budget constraints .. Shall keep on using d3100 for another year and then thinking of saving bucks for d7200 ..
