Best Sub $200 Prime Lens?

Can someone lead me to the best prime lens for under $200?

Also should I be looking at a 35mm or a 50mm?

Either the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G or the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G.

You'll want them both but if I had to choose one, I'd go with the 35mm. Opinions on this vary.

I'd recommend the 35mm for DX and 50 for FX.

50mm 1.8g for sure....

Shot with the 50mm 1.8g on the D7100

Sigma Super and Mini Wide IIs are pretty solid, and way under $200. Else source ebay for something in the 28mm range.

I doubt you will find a 35mm f/1.8 G or a 50mm f/1.8 G for $200 or under. You can, however, find 50mm f/1.8 D lenses under $200.

Used 50/1.8Ds can be had for $100.

35 1.8G can be found slightly under $200 new... Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Nikkor Lens 2183 B&H Photo
50 1.8G I'm sure can be found just slightly over that $200 mark. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Lens 2199 B&H Photo Video

Used pricing considerably less... 35 1.8G around 150 range, 50 1.8G approx 180 range.

Well worth it. Even if you end up purchasing a used lens, you really wouldn't end up losing any depreciation on it (provided you sold privately). So you can resell easily for the same price you paid for it. However you would take a hit on buying new and selling as used.

What is the difference between a "G" and a "D" ??
