    I am currently using nx view 2 windows live gallery ps elements 11 but live gallery is the only one that " stutters"

    Same set up and it stutters with me sometimes on jpeg,ime on windows 8 and had to get a codec from Nikon, MS said they didn't have one.

    I'm using my older desktop with Vista. Mine doesn't 'stutter' but it does take quite a few seconds for the RAW files to load while using Windows Gallery.

    so what codec did you get from nikon?

    Think it must have been this one,if i remember right the reason MS didnt have one is i am on 64bit

    Win picture viewer is not colour managed. So you cannot see the right colour profile.

    sorry i dont have cnx2 just vnx2 so i cant make that comparison vnx2 is free from nikon

    Fred,

    It might not be the best but it is MUCH MUCH faster than Windows Explorer etc. (for browsing) and it is free.

    The other possibility is that the Nikon Codec which is then automatically installed is the reason for the speed boost - at least when using VNX2 or CNX2.
