Thanks for the welcome everyone. Why did I get the Nikon d300.....I have a Sony A7 + 28/f2, 35/f2.8 which is great for landscapes but not for shooting wildlife and my dog. Went to my local LCE in Derby and asked for their recommendations for a speedy camera that wasn't too expensive but well built/specified and rugged. Tried the d300, job done...it felt right straightaway although heavier than my Sony the balance is great. I have had mirrorless for the last 3 years so a DSLR is a bit of a change but in a good way. Also got the 16-85 VR and the 70-300 VR and they are more than adequate for what I need. Just need to use the camera on a day to day basis to get used to it.
