Portrait shoot

Did a quick shoot for my girlfriend and her son tonight so though I'd share a few with you. Shot with a speedlight into a 24in softbox and a hair light in a couple. I also shot tethered into Lightroom which is something I'd advise everyone to do on this sort of shoot, helps me see how the light is working and the sitters can see how they look and change things if we want. Anyway, hope you like them :)

Nice...Not saying this is right but I would have them wear different coloured clothing to help pop them out of the background..

What happens to photos uploaded here? They seem very over sharpened and a bright unless you click on them, then they seem better!

That would be like pretty much any photo uploaded 'somewhere' that are bigger than that 'somewhere's maximum display sized : they get resized in browser (with algorithm made for speed, not for precise interpolation) unless you click some link to open them at full size...

(What I mean is, if they're right when they're clicked then most probably nothing happened to them but your browser trying to make them got the bounds defined by the HTML code)

I agree but bright colors aren't really their thing so it's a portrait of then as they are if that makes sense. Would have preferred to have done it high key but don't have a white bg at the moment.

Oh, and the first and second work good for me but I have some trouble with the 3rd and 4th which I find unbalanced - too much black (ie, not too dark). - Then again, I'm outside with a tablet, I might very well like 'em better later when I'm at my desktop :)

Makes sense, thanks for the info. I'll try and resize them in future.

Think you are right, they were just a quick edit. Had another go.
