D3s Exposure Compensation

Has anyone had an issue with the D3s AUTOMATICALLY adjusting the exposure compensation by upwards of 3 stops to the negative? This happens to me occationally and I cannot figure out just what is causing it. I do not believe that I have inadvertantly advanced the compensation. This seems to only happen when I am using my SB 800. Any observations would be appreciated.

Are you changing modes (P, S, A, M)? I'm not in front of my camera to test but I believe that exposure comp is "sticky" between modes.

I am not changing modes when this happens. It has not happened enough to notice a pattern but often enough to make me think that it is more than an inadvertent manipulation of the controls. I got the D3s in February and it has happened my 8-10 times. Very puzzling. I am not ruling myself out as the problem as yet, in fact, I am leaning that way but I just can't figure out what I could be doing! When you get to your camera if your thought proves out, I would appreciate your letting me know...
Thanks.

There is an option within the menu settings whereby you can use the front dial to adjust EC. Try menu b4 ("Easy exposure compensation"). Perhaps you're inadvertently inputting +/- ? -Ike
