I am an aspiring sports photographer. I have to cover events like basketball, ice skating and so on. Should I buy a D40 or D300?

Re: sports photography

It depends on your budget. The lens is more important with sports photography and with most things. So is the photographer.

Re: sports photography

I have a d60 and to shoot in a gym without even good light, it won't happen. Gym official's won't allow a flash, it could blind the players. A 2.8 lens and a d90. (that's what the local paper has). It's all about the light, as we all know.

The D300 would probably be a better choice for just about anything over the D40. Considering the price difference, it had better.
