I have Aperture 3 and Lightroom 3. I use Aperture 3 FAR more than I do LR3. I have been working hard on understanding LR3 but it seems to be very difficult to wrap my head around. I guess the adage about old dogs and new tricks is in play here, but I am still working on it. For ease of use immediately, I would suggest Aperture, but for versatility my vote goes to Lightroom.

JMTCW. :)

Since you asked about Aperture, I'm assuming that you're on a Mac. If you also use a PC, then Lightroom is the way to go. If you only use a Mac, then either are good choices. I have used both but settled on Lightroom.

You might want to look at this side-by-side comparison to help make your decision.

Am I correct in assuming that lightroom does a lot more then apature 3 but apature 3 is much easier to use. And apature 3 is only 79.99 for full version?

Honestly, I don't see much of a difference in the two from a capabilities Or ease of use viewpoint. I do find it easier to find add-ins, training and ad-hoc support with Lightroom because it is more popular. Since I use Macs and Windows-based systems, I can use it in both environments.
