Nikon Image Space

Have been getting messages from Nikon about their I. Anyone out there using it and how would you rate it. Although I am an Apple user I do not presently use their cloud storage but have been thinking I need something.

Nikon's upgrade plan offers 20GB max. Google Photos is unlimited photos (compressed), or free 15GB raw/originals.

It really depends on what you want the storage for... sharing or backup. For sharing, Google is much better allowing free unlimited and some very attractive and easy sharing methods.

If it is backup, and can't see that 15 or 20GB would be enough for even the average user. With Google, you can purchase more storage at attractive rates, and sometime even earn more storage through promos from time to time. I didn't see anything in Nikon's plans that suggest you can go passed 20GB.

I would not want to fool with it or any cloud based storage unless it had sufficient storage space available. Am not really into sharing much, am more interested in backup capabilities. I'll give google a look-see.

I think you'll find Google to be the most cost effective, at 2 bucks/mo for 100GB, and ten for a terabyte. And if you don't need to share, just use Google Drive instead of "Photos".

But there is software for either that will automatically synch folders on your physical drive to the cloud.

Flickr gives you 1TB free storage, and you can upload full rez. Just upload everything private and you don't have to share. Now if you need to upload RAW files, I don't think Flickr will work for you.

An Office 365 Home, 5 user subscription gives 1TB OneDrive per user. That's 5TB @ £65 approx. = less than 1.3p per MB, per annum

Our home set up is all Windows based and my wife needs Office for her business so for us it's a no brainer. It's all accessible / managed via a browser but I appreciate that other users will have other requirements.

A friend of mine has just recommended Nikon Image Space but 20GB isn't much.
I need to look into Cloud.
Does anyone know if some space in cloud is included if you already pay for LR and PS on a monthly subscription?
I tend to ignore all these things as keeping up with them is a headache so if this is a stoopid question that is my reason.

If it's just backup you are looking for, why not look into something like Western Digital's myCloud NAS? I use a 4TB model, and it has "cloud" capabilities for remote viewing/retrieving of files, as well as sharing. It was less than $200 for this single drive model, making it pretty reasonable. Stay away from the Seagates if you decide to pursue this line of thought, though. Horrible reliability reviews.
