Website Feedback

Hi All,

Just looking for some general feedback on my website and pictures. I travel about 85% of the year for work so I set this up for friends and family to see my pictures. I am not a pro, just trying to learn and get my pictures to that level of quality. I'm just looking for some general feedback on the website layout, colors, etc. Also if I am heading in the right direction with my photography skills, or if I can improve anything. Here is a rough chronological order of the galleries, then span from about 4-5 years ago to just last month, Med, Europe, Gettysburg(first DSLR), Firearms/Auto, Japan/Japanese cars in Auto, Philippines, Colorado/Night, Canada, Alaska. I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for the time,
Matt

Thank you for that. The picture of the bridge is one of my favorite shots I got in Colorado. I don't really know why but it just jumps out to me.

Very nice although on my Mac the slide show was a bit slow to respond - possibly because of the file sizes.
Real interesting though. Alaska looks like a place to visit

Nice website, easy to navigate.

On your home page, the Home, browse, search, contact, is a little hard to see, but that just down to the main picture,

but other than that, very good.

I tried to find where I can go in. Couldn't find an entry button

Maybe it's just me but while I like your opening shot, the level is slightly wrong and it directly bothers me.

It could be some mild distortion too but something is off a couple of degrees. It's your entry shot which needs to be perfect.

I agree with the others about the navigation not being too visible. The font color fades into the background gray and if you lighten it up, or use almost white, it will directly gain in visibility.

I like the rest of the site; it loads pretty fast but you have too many near identical shots. Like 10 shots of your car. I don't know if you're trying to fill it up at the moment but I'd be more selective and only pick the best of some series.

After using my iPhone I was able to see the buttons

Looks great on the computer as well on the iphone. Here in Thailand it is loading fast.

Just a bit more visible the buttons maybe.

I put a couple of lines as reference in PS.

This is what I'd change to that entry shot but you're free to disregard it.

I'd recut the shot so the center of the bridge matches the center of your page and aligns with the navigation. I'd also fix those couple of degrees the shot looks off. Some people don't really notice but a lot cannot but notice.

The white fonts are much better now.

I appreciate everyones feedback. I changed the buttons to white it is a lot more visible, and looks better. Never though about it, because i knew where they were.

J-see, I think you're right about it being a little off level, I will level it. You are also right about being more selective. I do need to go back and trim some of the galleries. I have found myself getting more and more selective as time goes.

Lawrence, Alaska is a beautiful state to visit if you enjoy the outdoors. The screen shot of the map is a drive my GF and I did when she came up to visit, it was about 500miles and took us 14.5 hours. It was the nicest drive I have ever done. You could go an hour+ without seeing another car. It would have taken me double as long if I stopped every time I wanted to take a picture. Ill be going back in a week. Ill be trying to make time to go to Brooks Falls. It is the waterfall that is in a lot of pictures/videos with Brown Bears catching Salmon.

I see what you're saying. The lines really help to illustrate it. Ill have to redo it, now ill notice it every time.
Thank you

It's possible you'll have a hard time getting it exactly in level everywhere since the bridge likely isn't a prime example of 100% straightness. ;)

Maybe you have to find a compromise that will be good enough or leave it as is but I'd certainly recut the whole shot and align the centers.

I'm a day late getting to this thread, but I also like what you've done with the site!

I'm having a similar problem with the navigation mention not being very intuitive on my Wordpress site, but you were able to correct that by changing the color of your menu items. You've got a nice, clean, web gallery. I like it!

Yea, im sure I wont get it 100%. I really want to get it center though, I notice it everytime now. haha
