just got this email.

Dear iMac owner,

Apple has determined that certain 3TB hard drives used in 27-inch iMac systems may fail. These systems were sold between December 2012 and September 2013.

Our records show that you have an iMac with an affected 3TB hard drive. Apple will replace
your hard drive with a new one, free of charge.

Please visit the iMac (27-inch) 3TB Hard Drive Replacement Program page to learn more about the replacement process.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

iMac serial number:

Sincerely,

Apple Inc.

LOL, what about the known issue with their laptop hard drives failing (learned of the issue on the Kim Kommando computer tech program one month after we purchased the laptops) between 1-1.5 years? We have a couple of those that failed right on queue.

Spinning disks or SSDs? I've got a few Apple laptops, but have only had one disk fail and that happened to be in my primary Mac Mini that everything backs up to. Fortunately, it wasn't the backup disk that crashed.
