Capture NX-D Has resorted to strange things

Ok, last night using NX-D as I have been doing for as long as I have been processing RAW files, I processed a photo and converted it to .jpg. Then I opened it in GIMP as I usually do for additional touch-ups and flares. BUT.......... the image was not the full image that I had processed. It was cropped off at the bottom 1/3 or so. I tried repeatedly to try to figure out what was happening. Same results each time. Being tired I gave up and went to bed thinking that a new day, I would see new things. Today I tried again with the same results. The .jpg was cropped on the lower 1/3 or so using windows viewers, GIMP, etc. It appears that Capture NX-D is not exporting/converting correctly. Even trying to convert to Tiff, same results.

Next, I uninstalled Capture NX-D and did a fresh install. Same results again with about three different photos. Aargh! I finally tried a photo that I had taken on another day. It was fine. OK, now I went back to the images that I had taken on the day I had problems with. The first one worked fine (I had not tried it previously). Then back to the three I was having problems with. Same cropped results. Then the Ah-ha moment. The three giving problems were all shot in portrait mode. The ones working ok were shot in landscape mode. I think that there may be a problem with the portrait orientation in Capture NX-D.

I will be playing some more to see if I can figure it out, but has anyone else see this type of behavior or heard anything like this.

TIA

Tried rotating the image so it was in landscape orientation, but that image was also cropped. I realized now however that it is cropped on the right as well as the bottom of the image. The following two photos are the image as seen in Capture NX-D and the image as converted to .jpg or tiff. These are screen shots.

I had that same problem. It did take me 4-5 tries at times to get the image right which pissed me off that much I only use it as a viewer.

I'm using the latest version now so I'm not sure if this one does it too.

I realized that even though I checked for updates and it said my version was up to date, it really wasn't. I saw that Nikon had a new version of Capture NX-D ver. 1.2.0. I think I had seen the notice for this version before, but decided at that time to upgrade it later because it only seemed to be for adding D5500 and D7200's to the list of supported cameras and I didn't need that. Reviewing it again today I saw that it corrected the unwanted cropping (One of the last things on the update list). I came back to give my results and see J-see had the same problem and previously updated. I can report that it did correct the issue I was having. Converts/exports are correct now.

:D
