D5300 + iPad + Flickr

I recently discovered the fascinating world of DSLR with a wonderful Nikon D5300. It is great fun and I am happy to constantly be learning new things.

I travel a lot and don't want to wait until I am back to my home PC to share my pictures. I would like to develop an efficient way / workflow to process the pictures from the camera to sharing on the internet. D5300 has a great wifi feature and I am using iPad as my tablet on the go. Unfortunately I couldn't identify an app or several apps which would allow me to do the following:

  • Transfer all pictures from my camera (without any reduction in resolution / quality) from my D5300 to iPad
  • Organize, review, sort, edit and enhance pictures on my iPad
  • Upload selected collections to my account on Flickr (again without any reduction in resolution / quality)
  • Ideally I should be able to quickly transfer the resulting edits of the pictures from my iPad to my home PC
Native Nikon iPad app for D5300 doesn't allow to copy more than one picture in full res to iPad. Lightroom mobile doesn't allow to upload all the picture in one go (there is like a 10 pics limit) and also reduces quality when you import the picture from your iPad picture roll.

Any ideas for a good app or apps to tick the above boxes?

Thank you.

I wonder if you can try using an SD card reader to lightning connector to upload your photos. Once they're up just upload to Flickr from your iPad. I'm kind of speculating. I've used the SD reader on iPad but haven't really tried any of the other steps.

I am using wifi to get pictures from D5300 to iPad. Wifi on the camera is great, but native Nikon app is not.

It really disappointed me that the nikon app didn't allow you to select the transfer size and automatically downsized everything especially with the extra memory available on the new iPhones etc, the remote trigger works brilliantly though

I don't know that there are a lot of options for iOS users such as ourselves. My disappointment with Nikon's wireless offerings is that they expect the other device to be a smart device of some sort ... iOS or Android, but not Windows or OS X.

I've heard others having better luck with DSLRDashboard (I think is the name) on Android, but, I'm not a regular Android user.

That said, and other than @ferg007's shared concern about not being able to downsize images coming out of the camera using WMU, you should be able to still accomplish what you're after. I haven't tried uploading to Flickr specifically, but have used WMU with the D5300 to pull images from the camera to the iPhone's camera roll, to then turn around and share through iCloud Photo Streams. You should be able to take the same image once it's on the camera and then re-share it through Flickr/SmugMug/500px/etc.
