Watermark with graphic & text?

I'd like to do a watermark with a small graphic & text. Lightroom seem to offer either a graphic, or text, but not both. Is there a way to do this in Lightroom or would I need to create a larger graphic that includes the text?

You would have to create a graphic file with text in Photoshop or another software and then use that file in LR as the default watermark. You could then vary the opacity within your export preferences.

You could do text and image individually in two operations, suitable for one image, but not for use in multiple images.

I'm imagining it could still be a problem. Images are rectangular, and JPG does not support transparent images (JPEG 2000 does, FWIW, if you have capable software). So unless the text is fully within that inserted image, inserting text as a rectangular image would seem problematic, at least ugly.

You can use a .png file for watermarks though, can't you? They support a transparent background, then the opacity can be adjusted for the actual image.

Sounds right, but I have not done it, so I have questions. The inserted image would need to be transparent, processed by the editor, but the final image processed by viewer would not? Can final image still be JPG? I don't know how those possibilities work?

I use one I made up in photoshop. I did two, one with white lettering and one with black and a transparent background on each. Only thing I wish was that lightroom would allow you to easily edit the location of where you want the watermark when you export.

You do need a graphics program, photoshop, pixelmator, Gimp. You will want the background to be transparent, so when its added to your image the image text/logo will show. All of mine or png, but you can use a jpeg in LR just not sure how it would look. I guess what @Pretzel said above is true with jpeg, you can't do a transparent background with them. I tried one time and it came out white.

In LR, you can just choose custom text like "Fabulous World According to Gorf", modify font and it will add the text to the image without doing the above. Its good standby if you dont really have a logo, it took me a while to get one I liked so I just used the text water mark in LR for a while.

I use a .png file for my watermark. The background is transparent, but the image itself is not. LR will attach it and let you adjust the opacity so it can become semi-transparent, kind of like blending layers in PS, so you can make it very apparent, or practically invisible. Not sure how other programs would work with it though.

And yes, the final image can still be JPG with no problems. That's how all of my posted images are handled.

Example below. The text "Selective Focus" is actually a rectangular .PNG pic with a clear background, and on about... if I remember right, 60% opacity? When exporting as JPG, I just tell LR to attach the watermark with the location/size/settings that I want.

It's in the lightroom export dialog where you can select the opacity, size and placement. You can't move it exactly where you'd like like I do in Photoshop for each individual picture thought. But you get different options. I'll try to cut the dialog and paste it here .

Here is the LR dialog box you get when you edit your watermark:

Sorry my LR is in French though but I hope you get the meaning.
