Issue

You could see reduced performance in Adobe applications while completing automated tasks that do not require direct user interaction on Mac OS 10.9.x (Mavericks). For example, running scripts or actions in Photoshop can take longer than expected.

Solution

Disable App Nap, which is a new feature in Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks) that reduces power consumption. It slows down applications that are hidden behind other windows.

I'm wondering if this is why my imports into LR have been taking so long all of a sudden as well? I usually start the import and then go onto something else while it's running in the background. Seems that AppNap kicks in any time the application is no longer visible.

I've disabled it for both PS (which I really didn't notice anything on) and LR. Thanks for the heads up.
