File Renamer Basic

Hello Nikonites. I just shot my first wedding a little while back and I have tried a couple times to rename my files so they are placed in the order I want them in. I downloaded File Renamer Basic which is a handy program but...here is my problem. Whenever I open the folder containing the images, it reorders them alphanumerically which totally defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do. I have manually rearranged them in the folder that they are in but this order is lost once I place them in the File Renamer program. Does anyone know how I can prevent this from happening? Either some setting that I can change or possibly a completely new program that would be better suited for this type of situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have had this problem at times and it is so annoying.

In the end I copied the images I wanted into another file (using the Save As command in Photoshop) and applied a three digit number at the end. This then kept them in the order I wanted in that file. I know this is a bit time consuming, but it was the best I can offer. There may well be somebody with far better advice.

I have found now on my Mac that I can disable the automatic re-arrangining but I could not find a way of doing it in Windows.

You could try right clicking on the folder they are in and "UNCLICK" the auto arrange box. This may well solve your problem

The last wedding I did I re-sequenced them only after exporting from Lightroom into jpeg (export function allows you to rename in sequence), but had to do it piecemeal rather than batch because I used 2 cameras.

Are you wanting to rename them chronologically? Or just sort them chronologically? I would think if your cameras were time synched and the images placed in the same folder, that you could sort by date/time and they would be chronological.

But I may have misunderstood the question..
