Any NAPP members here?

Greetings

I got a Cyber Monday ad today from NAPP, saying that if you sign up today, you get 18 months for the price of 12.

Are any Nikonites also members of NAPP? Or former members?

Is NAPP worth the expense? I am a subscriber of kelbytraining.com and have learned quite a bit from it..

Any information on NAPP is welcomed. I have CS5, but rarely use it - do most everything in Lightroom. But I'd like to learn how to do more in CS5.

I'm a member and use it frequently. Whenever I have some PS or LR issue, I use their "help" and have been pleasantly surprised how quickly they got back to you and how knowledgeable they are. They also have several discounts that are beneficial. I've a learned a lot about photoshop from their tips of the day and their magazine. I plan to stay with them.

Best Regards

I actually was a member and wound up cancelling. I found them geared more towards PS when I wanted more on LR. To be fair, I understand they have more LR content now but I haven't found a need to re-up. One thing that turned me off was the frequent self promotion.

Scott Kelby is the man...however, I wouldn't pay for a subscription to NAPP. Read his blog and buy the box edition of his books, which will cost half of the membership dues. The rest you can glean from the internet and Twitter.

I am a subscriber of kelbytraining.com - have learned a ton from it. Part of my signing up for a years membership came with a Kelby CS5 book and a Kelby CS5 DVD. Looking forward to receiving them!

I am a member of NAPP, have not used it too much. I got the membership on Scott's photowalk deal. Use Aperture 3 95% of the time and only Elements 9 the other 5% Not too useful for me.

Sounds like the overall opinion is that it's not a great value to many people. I do enjoy the kelbytraining subscription, but the NAPP membership, I think I will pass on for the moment. Thanks for the feedback.

I decided to give it a try after all. I signed up for a Kelby event near Cincinnati for this Friday, and NAPP members got $20 off, and I got a $10 off the NAPP subscription from Kelby's facebook page. So, I figured, it was now or never!

I'll try to update if I learn anything good at Kelby Training. If I don't, well, I won't re-up!

Starting to think the membership might be worth it in savings on products.

I already have CS5 and LR3, but my Dad needed to upgrade his CS2 and buy LR3. Membership got 15% off the $200 upgrade from CS2 to CS5, $30 (no discount on LR3, as Adobe gave 30% off if he bought it while upgrading his CS2 to CS5)
$20 off a seminar I went to
$5 shipping discount on a B&H order

I'm at 55 bucks saved, and I've been a member for less than a month. I'll keep track over the course of the year and update as things go.

That's a very valid point, John. People who are looking to take the plunge into Adobe products would do well to pay attention to this experience.

Time to talk in circles: The memberships cost additional money above and beyond just buying the software. But, with the discounts you get on the software from the memberships, they essentially pay for themselves. Which ultimately means, you get the software + the memberships for the price of the software alone.

Say that 3 times fast. :)
