All black thumbnails in View NX2

Although I can see each individual image once I click on a thumbnail in View NX2 (v 2.7.5 under Win 7), all of the thumbnails are black, wuth just the red focus square.

Makes no difference whether jpg, NEF or MOV.

I've un-installed and re-installed, but problem persists.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Bernie

Are you running the 32 or 64 bit version of Windows? Have you installed the Nikon NEF drivers?

Running 64bit version Win 7 and View NX2

Yes, all NEF drivers installed by Nikon Transfer 2 and ViewNX 2 install, but as I said, JPGs don't display either. All images, including the NEFs previews display fine when clicking on the actual thumbnail, so ViewNX2 obviously understands the formats ok.

I havn't really used View NX2 very much, but just thought I'd give it a try to see if I like it.

I didn't install anything, just re-booted, and now the thumbnails are showing!

I've no idea why or how, but problem is solved (for now!), thanks for your replies

I do not know how to start a new thread, so I'm posting my question here. I used to be able to quickly label images in View NX2 using my right/left arrow keys and the number keys. Now when I do this the cursor jumps to the folders area and hitting number keys causes me to jump folders. How do I fix it?

Try downloading and installing the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack and then reboot. See if that solves the issue.
I've been having the same problems, so I did install the Codec Pack, rebooted, and the thumbnails are now showing. I also think the last time I rebooted, the thumbnails appeared. Now I am wondering if it has something to do with my PC going to sleep. Using Win 7 (64). Guess I will find out in the near future.

I've run into the disappearing thumbnail issue myself.

Try purging the thumbnail cache using the built-in Windows "Disk Cleanup" utility: Press the Windows+R keys to open the Run dialog box, type cleanmgr in the text-box and press Enter.

Hi,

I had a similar problem with black thumbnails showing. Also, when converting these files to JPEG, the JPEG saved to all black.

I created a new folder and copied all of the images from View NX 2, including the black photos, into this new folder. I opened View NX 2 and browsed to the new folder. I then double-clicked on the images to open them up in the editing window. Finally, I clicked the 'Revert to Original' button at the top right beside the 'Adjustments' Panel. All of the thumbnails, images, and converted JPEGs displayed correctly.

Hopefully this helps.
