I'm wondering if someone here can help me ...... I'd like to have the background of this photo white. I don't know about layering so if someone can tell me how... ?

Much appreciated.

I would have to wonder if the whiskers wouldn't get lost in the white background?
My wife stopped when she saw this image on my screen, and thinks the green in the background really resonates with the green in the eyes. I think the only distracting part of the image is the bright green (almost chroma-key green) blade of grass in the foreground.
Otherwise, it's a very beautiful image as it is.

Thanks for the reply.... It's funny I had the same thought after I uploaded the photo about the whiskers... I seen someone that had a similar photo with a white background....although it could have been the actual background. I think what distracts me with it is on the left side, bottom.... Almost hurts my eyes. Anyway, just thought it was possible to do something with it.....I've given photoshop a try with other photos and I'm just not sure what I'm doing... somehow I'm getting lost between the 'inverse' and the next step (can't recall what that is at the moment) But my background is ending up inside the photo instead of the other way around. Ha!
Thank you again for the reply.... and compliments.. I wasn't fishing by the way...lol Just thought I could learn something... Thanks to your wife as well!

Hopefully you don't sue me for copyright infringement, but I did a little editing with the Nik Software suite - in Photoshop:

cat.jpg

I used the content-aware fill in order to remove the blade of grass that was distracting, then used Color Efex Pro to create a selective vignette blur to minimize the focus on the grass. From there I used Viveza 2 to selectively darken the shade of green of the grass, leaving all the other green to its normal brightness.

Wow!!! That makes ALL the difference! Sue you? Hahaha Thank you so much... Could you tell me about the version of Photoshop that I have and hardly click onto.. I have Photoshop7 and I don't know if it has the same things as you mention you used for this photo... do you? I'm going to open it... see if I can see the applications within it. Photoshop is daunting!!

I'll check and see if the plug-in works in Photoshop 7 - but it's sold separately to the Photoshop software.

Nik Software Inc.

These plug in to Photoshop (CS3 & later for sure) and allow you to edit very quickly and easily. If you know how to use a paintbrush (IRL), and know how to use sliders to make adjustments, you'll learn this software easily.
What I did above was a 5 minute job before I left for work.

I'm afraid I'm still in the dark with this type of editing... I think I just need to spend real time trying instead of getting overwhelmed with it. Thanks for all of your input here..!!
