Taking retro photos with the D60

I have had the D60 for a couple months now and haven't had a ton of time to mess around with it but so far I totally love it. But one thing I've been trying to achieve is to get the look of pictures from the 50's and 60's, with muted colors and somewhat of a haze over the entire picture. I absolutely love the look of these pictures and I wondered if anyone knew how I could get a similar effect either by changing the settings on my DSLR or doing something in post production, or do I need to actually buy a medium format camera to get that look. Thanks!

Very simple program: Irfanview. Download it. It works! www.irfanview.com
More advanced: Paint Shop Digital Pro X3. It will do whatever you want to do with it. If Photoshop is too expensive for you......this will more than fill the bill for what you want to do.

I've had good luck using Adobe Lightroom's Filtering. Some are preset for you like black and white and Sepia tones. You can also build your own to give you a one click adjustment on a picture.
