Excellent image. I love the full range of tones presented and how the light gently wraps around the model's features. Great job separating the hair from the background.

Thank you. For separating the hair from the background, we did a 3 light rim light here. 1 sb900 on each side and another one with snoot directly above the model and pointing downwards towards her hair.

Curt, I love your portrait . . . really tells a story and nice use of flash.

Ranie, your portraits are just awesome! You have obviously mastered the use of light. The rim light you used, was it continuous or strobe?

Thank you, I used two speed lights, SB 600 on the left side pointing at the subject, the other (SB 800) on the right side bounced of a white wall.

I used the 70-300mm f4.5-5 VR, shot at 70mm focal length. I absolutely love this lens . . . read someplace that this was one of Nikon's best-kept secrets.

I totally agree. Actually can't remember the last time I pulled out my old "push-pull" 80-200/2.8.

Thanks Curt. Still learning here.
Nice shot by the way. Nice reflections on the glass. Was your speedlight inside a softbox?
